Copied files from NAS to USB drive - some files are now "not available" in playlists

Wired 1G throughout house.

Connected Audio Devices

Raspberry Pi’s with HiFiBerrys, mostly connected to legacy Meridian gear. Issue is not in playback however. Searching for the files finds them, and I can play them. Just not from my playlists.

Description of Issue

Data was on an SMB share on FreeNAS. The FreeNAS files were copied there from my laptop. I copied these same files to my USB drive, and set that as the storage using the Roon App.

Most everything works, but now a few files (enough to be painful) are showing up in playlists as “not available”. But if I search for them, they show up as available, with a file location etc, and I can play them.

I have tried forcing a rescan.

I would rather not have to re-add all these files to my playlists. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I’m not an expert here, but I believe the playlist stores the path to the file, so if the file moves it looses the link and would need to be re-added from the new location.

I ran into this when trying to import export, then edit, then import playlists, where the path needed to be correct and accessible for Roon to find the files.

I too believe this to be case

Hi @Jamie_Briant ,

What kind of playlists are these, XML, iTunes, or Roon-created playlists? Did your playlists use absolute path or relative path when referencing the file locations?
