Core does not see Astell & Kern SP2000T

Roon Nucleus Core

Eero Mesh Network

I just received a new Astell & Kern SP2000T DAP which is Roon Ready. I toggled on the Roon Ready switch on the DAP, and logged into Roon to enable the new device.

My Nucleus shows no new devices. I rebooted the DAP, and performed today’s Roon core update (which presumably reboots the core) and still nothing. All devices are logged into my same home Wi-Fi network.

How do I get my core to recognize my new roon ready device?

Frustrated… please help.

Please complete the support template in full.

Firstly you must ensure Roon Ready function is enabled in your device.

If you cannot see a Roon Ready device in Roon settings → Audio → Roon Ready, your Eero needs to be changed to run in Bridge mode.

This requires you have a separate router (that is not Eero).

I have the following Roon Ready devices already running on my network without any issue:

  1. Bluesound Node 2i
  2. Bowers & Wilkins Audio
  3. Bowers & Wilkins Flex (3 of these)
  4. Bowers & Wilkins Wedge (w/B&W Sub)
  5. Pro-Ject Streambox (2 of those)
  6. Chord Poly

I also have several HiBy DAPs that Roon recognizes right away when I turn them on as well. Just not my new A&K DAP.

Yes, there is a router issued by my internet provider that my eero is plugged into with various eero devices scattered around my home.

I already enabled “Roon Ready” on my new device.

Reach out to A&K as if it’s not being seen and all you other devices are then it’s likely an issue with it. Their Wi-Fi is old and flakey and maybe susceptible to issues when on a dual band network. Not sure you can separate the bands on eero.

Make sure in your device it’s not set as a private zone, in the devices roon settings under audio…this is the default for devices like phones and tablets and often DAP’s too

If Roon could even see the device in the first place, then I might worry about this. I understand what you’re trying to say though…

You need the roon (Android) client on the DAP, unless you run the DAP in DAC mode perhaps. At least is the way it works on my FiiO M11 DAP

Nope the A&K is Roon ready no app needed.

Ok so it also needs to be on the same network (I’m assuming it’s using wifi) so make sure it’s not on a guest WiFi network

Stupid question: Do you’ve also enabled WIFI in the DAP and can you use it for streaming (as DLNA client, with Tidal, Qobuz, Apple,…)?

And yes, for using it as Roon endpoint you need a Roon remote installed on another device in the network.

Recognized my SP 1000 immediately under Settings audio

I have been using my new DAP on my network with Apple Music, Qobuz, and Spotify without any issues. All work perfectly fine,

I’ve also been subscribed to Roon for at least 4 years now so I have a pretty good understanding of how it works. Have not run into any trouble in past with enabling new devices.

I appreciate the attempt to help though.

Lucky you. Me? Not so lucky.

Using WiFi yes, same network yes. I do not run a guest network.

Power cycle the whole network, starting from the router, including Roon Core and all Roon devices.

Done. And nope, no bueno .

Thank you for trying to help though Peter.

A factory reset of the DAP took care of my problem. Life is better now.

I know remember I had to do that as well when I had one, sorry it didn’t come to me earlier.
