Since 2020 I’ve been happily using a Nucleus + as the core of my stereo. Unfortunately while moving my storage locker was broken into and all my gear was nicked. I’m now rebuilding it slowly.
My dilemma is that the basic Roon product at $500 doesn’t appear to support HDMI out annd has limits on the size of library it supports
Worse, the gap to the Titan is a leap way too far for me to justify financially. The $2500 for the Nucleus plus was high, but achievable.
Is there any indication Roon is going to fill the gap between $500 and $4000?
If not, do folks have (non NUC) recommendations they are delighted with that don’t have the limitations of the basic Roon core?
Thanks!
How did you get that impression? It is incorrect. Just see the published specs:

Yes. Read that. The set of specs I read says audio input = hdmi for stereo and multi channel. Both the specs and user guide specifically omit any reference to TV as display and HDMI out.
If that’s incorrect or a documentation error great. It still limits track count though and seems to lack the processing power of the old nucleus + which listed support for all DSP, not the ambiguously named some or most in this he spec sheet.
You did not specify video. Most users are interested in HDMI audio output.
Regardless, RoonOS does not support video output on HDMI. That has nothing to do with hardware. No Nucleus nor ROCK machine will output video display via HDMI.
Again, you fail to be specific. How large is your music library? Most likely, one of two possibilities. You already are exceeding 100,000 tracks by a good margin. Or you are overthinking this because it probably is a nonissue.
As for DSP, testing for all possible combinations is impossible. Speaking in generalities is best practice. Because any and every machine, no matter how powerful, can be halted by some combination of DSP.
