you should check what speed and ping you are actually getting at the Roon server
Hi.
I had quite the same issue with a 14 TB drive attached to a sonictransporter i7.
Spinning drive (even a fast one) won’t do it with a large Roon library, I was told by Andrew at SGC.
It will bottleneck the fastest setup, managing and indexing all the files.
Internal SSD is best, but 8TB maximum and costly. A fast NAS and reducing library size will greatly help.
I got back to my old sgc i5 and a bit less than 10k albums instead of 17k. Everything works fine for me. I hope you solve your problems. Happy listening!
Hi Robert,
Were you connecting your Nighthawk to the core via Ethernet, as I am?
Yes through a Netgear switch
I’d love a sonic transporter i9 with 8TB, out of my price range though.
I’m thinking that the forthcoming M4 mac mini might improve things.
Sonic xport was my 1st device. Sent it back after 2 months. After trying several cores I succumbed to the Nucleus Plus. Don’t regret it, marries well with Roon. Titan is ridiculously priced.
