Hello, I’m hoping someone will point me in the right direction, I’ve recently gone back to using Roon after a 12 month layoff. I use a 2014 Mac mini as my Roon Server, everything works well.
I have around 300 more albums stored on the hard drive installed in my Rose 250 than on my Mac mini.
I am trying to use the Rose’s 4TB SSD as a share location for Roon, I’ve been trying all day with little joy. I’ve successfully enabled the SMB id/pw settings on the Rose and tried to add the Rose as a network share, the message I’m getting back is
‘could not connect to share; unauthorised’
I can’t work out what needs authorising am I missing something I thought Roon was straightforward, the only thing blank is the username, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, thank you for the response I was using that very piece of advice myself.
I have inputted the information into Roon exactly as I did on the Rose, password and workgroup, and feel I had a little success as the message changed from host not found, now it reads
unauthorised
so I feel I’m progressing.
Everything I read tells me I am inputting the information correctly but I must be missing something. I’ve even rebooted the Rose and the Mac mini.
I have turned to the Roon community and the Rose community for help as someone somewhere must have come across this at some point.
Hi , thanks again , I can’t go back into the settings on the rose it pops up a box to fill in widen you toggle the setting for Smb then you can’t revisit it , I just jotted down what I’d entered then re entered the same into Roon which I can provide a screenshot of
When setting up Smb on the rose 3 boxes are to be filled in ,the top box is the ip address the second and third are password and work group , I used the exact same setting in Roon , word for word , rose doesn’t specify username , over the course of the last 6 hours I have tried every username even collie67 and have left it blank also because it says only if required and because rose never asked for a username I figured it isn’t required , I know I’m close as just need to figure out the last bit , thanks for your help it is appreciated mark
