Currently Album Type is limited to a short list: Album, EP, Single, Other.
Is there a way to add to that?
I think you missed “Soundtrack” on that list.
But, no, none that I know of, which is why I think Roon included the “Other” option. Since those designations affect page displays, I’m not sure they want to open it up to anything a user might want. Bootlegs are designated elsewhere, as is Live, and Compilation.
You can of course add your “designation” under Version and it will display with the album.

How would you add a “designation” under Version? Album Title?
Version can be anything you want really, but it will just appear as the version, no way to sort by it or something like that.

This is a decent workaround; thanks for posting it with screenshots!
Still doesn’t quite cover my specific use case: I want for ex. all these '90s demo tape recordings marked as “Demo” under Album Type so I can filter by it. The workaround gets the data in there, but semantically, “Demo” isn’t a “version” of the recording – the recording is a demo; there’s not other version. Just like an EP is an EP, an Anthology is an Anthology, etc.
Very minor gripe, though.
