DAC identified in config page but native DSD not enabled

Hi guys - I see my DAC (Luxman D-07X) being identified in the “Audio” page, but still am unable to select for native DSD in Roon; only DSD over PCM right now. I’ve searched through older posts and have come across something about a kernel update in Linux…? Is this a case of in spite of the correct DAC identification, I still need that second part, the Linux update?

I’ve also seen suggestions about emailing the manufacturer but less as to how/what the exact issue I ought to be requesting of them. Grateful for any advice on what to ask for. Many thanks!

Hi, welcome! as far as I know, native DSD is only supported on Windows through ASIO. Is DoP a limitation for you?

Hi @collyerquay ,

As @Marian said, your DAC (right now) only supports DoP on Linux.

For native DSD support the manufacturer first need to get their act straight on their side (the firmware of the USB chipset in your DAC), and then it’s possible to get native DSD on your device.

You could reach out to Luxman, but in 99.8% of the cases the response is the typical “we-are-from-marketing” answer.

Thanks

Thanks both. I’ve so far only fed music to the DAC via coaxial out of a different Roon endpoint, but started fiddling with DSD recently. DoP works fine right now; I had wanted to see if native DSD could be used since the DAC’s operation manual says its USB does accept DSD512, whereas PCM tops out at 768 kHz. Was surprised that Ropieee recognised the DAC manufacturer/model right off the bat, and had hoped maybe I was maybe missing a setting somewhere.

Worth a try I suppose I’ll write them, but should probably expect their marketing response to steer me towards their own streamer as a solution instead. Thanks again!
