What best describes your playback issue?

· A connected audio device is not appearing in Roon

What type of Zone is affected by this problem?

· *Network Zones* are affected.

How is the affected Zone connected to your RoonServer machine?

· Network - Ethernet

Does the device show up at all in Roon Settings -> Audio?

· No, it does not show up there

Does the device play audio from another source when using the same connection?

· The device has no problems with another audio source

Have you checked that Roon is whitelisted in any firewalls?

· I've checked the firewall and the issue remains

Since you are using a network connection to the device, please ensure that your RoonServer is on the same subnet as the device

· My devices are on a single subnet but is not visible to Roon

Do you have a complex network setup?

· I have a *mesh network* with devices connected to multiples points

Your local network might need some re-arranging to support Roon.

· None of the suggestions have helped me. I'd like to submit a support request.

What are the make and model of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?

Can’t find the DAC in the computer

I can’t find the DAC in Roon even though it hasn’t been updated. I can’t find the DAC after updating the Roon software. I installed Roon on a Mac and can’t find the DAC when I open Roon in Windows 11. My computer has the driver and can play sound.

Hello @k792248 ,

Thanks for reaching out. Just to confirm, this DAC is plugged in via USB to the PC, or is it using the SPDIF output from your PC’s hardware? If it is using the direct SPDIF connection, you should be able to select your “System Output” zone to play to it. What is interesting is that your PC zones are not at all seen, and just a Mac zone is. In this case, I suspect you have an issue with your PC’s firewall blocking Roon from seeing zones.

Since you are using a Windows PC, I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.

You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.

I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.

Hi @k792248,

We haven’t received a response from you yet on this thread, but our diagnostic servers indicate there’s been activity on your Roon account.

Have you tried the steps @noris provided above?

If you’re still having device discovery issues with this DAC/Zone, then please provide the following for us to proceed with troubleshooting:

  1. The make/model of DAC you’re using with Roon,

  2. The basic network topology serving RoonServer and your DAC. Specifically, we need to know if different mesh nodes serve RoonServer and the DAC.

  3. Have you enabled multicast forwarding, if available, in your router settings? Please also try toggling on/off IGMP snooping.

We’ll watch closely for a response. Thank you!

This thread is now closing due to inactivity. Please submit a new technical support request to continue the conversation if you require further troubleshooting. Thank you!
