I recently upgraded my SonicTransporter software and storage. The Preloaded version of Roon also required me to upgrade to roon 2.0 on my iPad. All is working except roon cannot find my DAC. In the legacy version 1.8 roon recognized my JLSoundsI2SoverUSB v.III USB board, which enabled me to play music. roon 1.8 saw the USB board, identified by model etc., and a "Enable" button on the Audio set up page. How can I enable the device using roon 2.0?
Describe your network setup
Small Green Computer SonicTransporter, custom built DAC that has worked with roon for about 4 - 5 years. Verizon Fios, 1 GB bandwidth, all ethernet connected. Wireless network and Apple AirPort wifi range extender.
Thanks for the screenshots. From what you’ve shared, it looks like Roon does recognize your JLSounds DAC in the Audio Setup page—you can see it listed with the “Enable” button.
Could you clarify what exactly isn’t working? Are you unable to enable the device, or is it not producing sound after enabling? This will help us guide you more precisely.
There are two screen shots, the pic that shows just my iPad enabled is Roon 2.0, there is no JLSounds available to enable that is my issue. The second pic shows what I use to have with Roon 1.8. There is a JLSounds icon to choose. No option to select JLSounds with Roon 2.0
Just to be sure, do you have local playback enabled after the software upgrade of your Sonicorbiter device? You can check this in your internet browser, after going to the local IP of your device.
You might have two paths enabled to the exact same music files. In Roon’s settings, look for your storage. Maybe there are two locations there:
Music Folder
and one that starts with an IP address and mentions a whole path that leads to the folder on your Sonicorbiter that contains your music.
If that is indeed the case, then disable one of these two.
