DAC/streamer disappeared from zones, unable to play music (ref#ODY91C)

What best describes your playback issue?

· My DAC, streamer, or speaker doesn't appear as a Zone in Roon

What type of Zone is affected by this problem?

· *Directly-connected Zones* are affected.

Is your device connected directly to the Roon Server via cable or over the network, or is it chained through another device (such as a streamer, Roon Bridge, or Roon Remote)?

· It is connected through a different device (e.g Rasberry Pi)

Does the device play audio from another source when using the same connection?

· The device has no problems with another audio source

Have you checked that Roon is whitelisted in any firewalls?

· I've checked the firewall and the issue remains

Since you are using a network connection to the device, please ensure that your RoonServer is on the same subnet as the device

· My devices are on a single subnet but is not visible to Roon

Do you have a complex network setup?

· I have a *mesh network* with devices connected to multiples points

Your local network might need some re-arranging to support Roon.

· None of the suggestions have helped me. I'd like to submit a support request.

What are the make and model of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?

· Xxx

Describe the issue

My DAC/streamer disappeared from the zones and I can't play music anymore.

Describe your network setup

Roon core runs on separate NUC, Roon is controlled in Macbboon air which is connected to my DAC with USB-cable. Everything has worked previously without problems.

Hi @Savari,
Thanks for writing in to let us know about this issue. Have all of your audio zones disappeared from Roon?

Please try generating a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

Now I had the time to try your instructions, unfortunately the new Raat folder made no change to the issue at hand. Any other suggestions?

And as additional information, I tried to connect soon to a different DAC but Roon doesn’t see it at all and it can’t be enabled. The other DAC also works with Qobuz app without problems, as does the DAC I normally use.

Hello @Savari ,

Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

Roon was allowed, switching them off and back on had no effect. I also tried connecting the nuc running Roon core to the DAC with USB, Room doesn’t find it even then.

Hey @Savari,

Thanks for the additional information! My apologies here - which machine are you hoping to run as your Roon Server longterm, the NUC, correct? We’re seeing a few different machines running Roon Server.

For your Windows, as a next step, let’s review the current ASIO driver firmware you have on the windows machine, and see if you can update or reinstall the current ASIO drivers. You can do this from the manufacturer’s website.

For your Macbook, we’re unable to see/connect to the device on our end to enable diagnostics, could you reproduce the issue, share the date, time, and track name when the issue occurs, and then please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Thank you! :raised_hands:

Nuc is in permanent use, core was on Mac before I bought the nuc. But it is the same problem with Mac, so it probably isn’t only Windows related problem? I will check the drivers from nuc, but it will take some time. The nuc is running headless with my hifi gear, so I will have to find time to carry some monitor to it, when one is free from other use…

Hi @Savari,
Were you able to look into the NUC drivers?

Hi! I actually just checked the drivers, they were up to date. I removed and reinstalled them and that did the trick - all my sources now appear in Roon as usual. Thank you!
