Hi,
Actually, I’m running Roon Core on a Windows laptop. My DACs are connected via USB to the remote laptops.
Now, I’m planning to install a dedicated Intel NUC (NUC7i7BNH) with ROCK (Roon Linux version) and I would like to connect my DACs directly to the NUC.
My questions:
will the Linux recognize my DACs: Wadia di122, Chord2Qute, T&A DAC 8 DSD ?
will I be able to choose the DACs via my remote laptop ?
1 yes (normally) but they may not be supported at their maximum bitrates/spec like the t&a might only get up to dsd256 under Linux as it needs special windows driver to support dsd512 if I recall correctly.
2 yes as long as you have them configured in the audio settings of the Core all remotes will see them. They optionally can be connected to an endpoint that is running either remote app or Roon Bridge if you have that need.
Some endpoints have better support for DAC’s than others.

Worst case is to either try a Roon Bridge type endpoint like Raspberry Pi and Ropieee or DietPi or a small for factor windows home NUC like setup with the windows drivers and Roon Bridge installed. The T&A might be an issue but I cant say for sure if its working for others on the Nucleus setup. @john might chime in on that and the other DAC’s you have.
I think you will find that the experience of managing and playing to your USB DACs connected to ROCK will be mostly similar to the setup you are using at the current moment. All of the USB DACs connected to ROCK will show as separate zones to play to in Roon, and you’ll be able to configure the device settings and DSP Engine configuration separately for each USB DAC.
I checked all three devices for Linux/USB compatibility and they all seem to have no known issues. They will work fine on ROCK connected via USB.
