Anything with Macy Gray on it is Groovin’!
Meh is absolutely the best word to describe my feelings toward this. With each track I thought ‘Yeah, this is groooooovy’ but within a minute I was thinking ‘meh - but it’s not Herbie Hancock - Watermelon Man or Future Shock’ and I just felt like that’s what they were trying to replicate and largely just falling short…
Playing on my Poly/ Mojo combo and the first few tracks were meh. Since multiple versions are available on TIDAL I switched to the 44.1kHz 16bit version and all of a sudden the album comes to life.
Macy, oh yeh! Mavis, oh yeh! That was some funky chicken! Overall it doesn’t quite make the grade but I enjoyed the ride nonetheless.
