DCS Bartok with a headphone zone and audio zone

Is it possible to set up a headphone zone and audio zone with the DSC Bartok. I would like to have two separate settings one for listening to headphones and one for listening through my stereo. I cannot figure out how to do it. Thanks, Tim

No, because the Bartok is a single zone device and is very unlikely to show its outputs, including headphones as separate output devices.

Buy another dCS Bartok :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

You need two separate devices or something like a Raspberry Pi running Roon Bridge with two different DACs connected via USB. Then these will show as separate zones.

I do not know the Bartok, but some devices kill all other outputs when headphones are connected.

  • The balanced and unbalanced outputs on the rear of the BartĂłk are independent, which allows you to connect each output to a different amplifier.

  • You can connect your headphones to either the balanced output or unbalanced output on the front panel. These outputs are suitable for headphones with an impedance of 30Ω or higher. We do not recommend connecting both balanced and unbalanced at the same time.

  • To switch between line output and headphone output, press the Output button on the front panel.

So you can use either the line output(s), or a headphone output, and switch your choice from the front panel.

In Roon: Probably no, as said by @Mr.Flibble . But you could try to connect your BartĂłk both through LAN and USB, and see if you can address them as a different zone. I have never tried that myself, so do not know.

It depends on, for what you’ll use the different zones.
You will use here the same DAC (so potential upsampling should be the same), but different outputs.
So you can save one setting for using it as preamp as “BARTOK_PRE” and another as “BARTOK_CAN” for headphones.
For me I’ve a lot of different settings (using a lot of different headphones) for each zone:

which have different DSPs and also upsampling in use.

Thanks very much, I see it is done via Presets. Is it possible to have the volume adjustable on the Can preset and fixed for Pre preset? Now I have to toggle to the DCS App to adjust volume when listening to headphones. Thanks, Tim
