Ah, get what you are saying, after fresh install the first time you start the program, the first page you see is the “Albums” page.
It sorta? makes sense as the “Home” page would not have much on it, until you actually “do” something and you probably are either still needing to add a storage location, albums or tracks, sign in to a streaming service, and/or waiting for the initial analysis to be done. So the stuff on the home page (recent activity, recent listening, etc) would all be blank.
As blank as the Albums page in this case. Hints about what to do next/first could be placed on any screen – a separate thing anyway for the special case of empty library and in my case the library isn’t empty anyway, just new Roon Controller devices. Case is, I expect the app to open on the home screen if there is such a screen and not some unrelated other screen (and for the special case of empty library, why not open directly on Settings screen amyway).
Current behavior also leads to a permanent back navigation arrow displayed on home screen or if you go all the way back, the screen you end-up on is the album screen and not home as you would expect as root of the app’s navigation.
This is just unexpected, inconvenient and silly IMHO.
There is no backup for Roon Controls (the UI only).
So no, no fresh database on the existing server. My headless Linux/NAS server is still the same.
Just new installations on new Roon control devices (new phone and tablet with Android 14, new laptop with WIndows 11 and even a test installation in a fresh bottle of Wine). All the same issue. I can’t see that, or better traces thereof, on my older controls (navigate all the way back gets you to home screen and not albums) so something must have changed somewhere.
Hi Everyone,
We’ve created a ticket with QA who’ve added it to their queue. We’ll re-open and share any updates when they’ve had time to review. Thank you in advance for your patience.
No. Your quote is from a hypothetical thought train initiated by bearFNF about connecting to a freshly setup (empty) Roon Server and not my case (connecting a new Control to an existing Server).
No, downloaded and installed Roon (Productive), then connected to my Roon Server running the productive release.
Perfect, thanks for the clarity! We’ll be in touch when development has had more time to dig deeper.
Edit: it looks like we’re having trouble enabling diagnostics on one of the issue remote devices, would you be able to send over a set of manual logs? Here’s our Log Uploader.
While Servers are always on, Remotes aren’t. I just turned them on, maybe now you can access them? Else please tell me which one you want logs from please.
