I’ve been experiencing a delay between songs while using Roon. Recently, I created a smart playlist called “Never Played Tracks,” which includes both offline and online Tidal tracks. When I play this playlist, there is a delay of 20 to 90 seconds between songs, regardless of whether they are online (Tidal) or offline (on my PC).
There are no visible updates occurring in my Roon account during these delays.
I don’t encounter similar delays when streaming directly from my Tidal account on Chrome or my Android mobile device.
Are you aware of any performance issues with Roon?
Thank you for your post. Diagnostic logging indicates two conditions on this RoonServer machine that are preventing both local music and streaming music from queueing properly:
First, RoonServer’s database location isn’t always accessible to Roon because it’s in use by another process. Do you have any third-party Backup services or disk cloning utilities you’re using to Backup your Roon database, and are those currently running? Do you have any Watched Folders in Roon that point to the same folder hosting your Backups or database? Be sure to keep storage separate from Backups.
I would also verify that RAATServer and Roon are excepted in the Windows Defender firewall, if you haven’t already.
Restart this Windows machine and re-launch RoonServer. We want to see how RoonServer is connecting to the internet on startup, but we don’t have a startup event in the diagnostic logs we have available currently for your account.
I restarted my computer twice and it seems to have resolved the issue.
As to your questions -
I got Norton Backup as part of my Norton Deluxe software pack and it runs automatically in the background, no way for me to know for sure if it ran at the time.
Norton also manages my firewall and no issues there with regard to Roon.
I’ll let you know if the problem remerge again, but so far it seem to work fine.
