I recently backed up and updated my NUCLEUS via a external USB drive. How can I easily delete the duplicates in my library? I searched a bit here and I figure this will be a faster solution.
Thank You.
Hi @Casey_Carney,
Thanks for writing in! The easiest and fastest way would be to hide your duplicates - Go to Settings → General → Show Hidden Tracks and Albums and turn it off. This keeps duplicates but prevents them from cluttering your library.
Hope this helps!
Thank You!!!
Hi @Casey_Carney ,
Did @benjamin 's suggestion resolve the issue? Let us know if you are still seeing the duplicates after or if the issue is resolved, thanks!
I do still see dupes, but they are in different formats… (44.1, FLAC, etc.). But not all albums. Quick question, if I disconnect my USB external drive from the Nucleus, will I lose my updated library? I hope the Nucleus imported all the files so I can do this. I’ll have the external as my backup, which I normally have connected to my Imac.
Thanks!
I control ROON with my Imac and my phone… (And ARC doesn’t seem to want to work when I am cruising around in my truck.)
Hi @Casey_Carney,
If you’re hosting the music files for your Roon library on the external USB drive, you’ll need to keep it connected to the Nucleus.
If you have set up a network share or moved the music files to the Nucleus Internal storage, then the external drive won’t need to stay connected.
Check the filepath for your Roon Watched Folders - if the filepath points to the external USB drive, you can’t disconnect it without moving your library files to a network share/internal storage.
The same is true for Backups. If you’ve set Scheduled Backups to point to the USB location, then you’ll lose your ability to Backup Roon automatically by disconnecting the drive.
If you just connected the drive to temporarily move files between machines and create a one-off Backup, then you don’t need to keep it connected.
Do you see a diagnostic message in Roon Settings → ARC? What about in the settings page of ARC itself - do you see a red light next to the server connection status?
We’ll watch for your response. Thanks!
The Box Of Armageddon is connected directly to the Nucleus via USB right now. I’m not sure if the Nucleus has imported the library. I am on the network share but am having problems finding the right path, I get info, copy and paste, but I keep getting an error message. I apologize. I have a beautiful system, but am a low end audiophile. I’m a drummer. Hah.
Hey @Casey_Carney,
Thanks for the screenshot! It does look like your library is indeed still hosted on the external drive. If you’re wanting to transfer your local library into the internal storage drive within the Nucleus, here’s more info on how to do so:
- Click into Finder>Go>Connect to Server on Mac.
- If you see your Nucleus, double-click to open it.
- If you don’t see it yet, enter 'smb://NUCLEUS ’ or 'smb://[IP Address of your Nucleus] ’ (don’t include the brackets, only the IP address ) - note that if you have a Nucleus One, you’ll want to type NUCLEUSONE instead of NUCLEUS
- If prompted for a login, enter: Username: guest Password: guest
From there, click into the Data folder > storage > and you should see your Nucleus internal storage folder. This is where you’ll want to import your local library into.
You’ll want access to the library on your external drive via the Mac as well so you can perform the transfer.
For Arc, it looks like your issue isn’t related to port forwarding or your connection to your Nucleus - what issues are you having specifically with it? While you’re on your home wifi, make sure you open Arc and perform an initial sync to your Roon Server. Let me know if you’re able to do this, thanks Casey!
