Deleting Multiple Copies of the Same Album in Roon (ref#X7YA9B)

I have duplicate folders of same albums. Some are Qobuz purchases and Favorites. Some are CD rips . So nearly every album shows up as multiple copies in Roon. Clearly the Qobuz files are 16/44, some are 24/192 resolution.

I am having Apple Time Machine backups plus daily 24/7 Backblaze backups which are restorable up to one year at current setting. So I am duplicating backups wasting disc space and adding time for any Roon file manipulation and response.

Can I see in Roon file sizes and types?

Hi @Randall_Sanders,

If you have multiple copies of the same album (local and streaming or multiple of each), Roon won’t automatically delete/replace the lower-quality versions.

If you don’t want to see these duplidates but don’t care if you keep the underlying files, simply untoggle “Show Hidden Tracks and Albums” and Roon will only display the primary version of each album. Duplicates will be hidden by default. This setting is in Settings -> General.

Setting a primary version won’t delete the lower-quality files from other versions. If you want to actually delete the local files, you’ll need to do so by selecting the duplicates in Roon (sort alphabetically in the albums browser) or by deleting the files separately in a file management program.
