I picked up a used Denafrips Arce a month or so ago, and it’s replaced an Eversolo DMP-A6 in my main system. (I still love the eversolo, as it’s now in my den where I can see the screen!)
Will be interesting to see what happens when it’s actually roon ready, but I’ve been using it with HQPlayer and I have to say the little Arce sounds great into my Denafrips Pontus II DAC.
I have HQPlayer installed on a 2012 mac mini with 8GB RAM. It works fine, but can’t get more than DSD128 (or PCM 384khz) without stuttering.
Actually, I’m upsampling only to DSD64 because I like the AES/EBU connection more than i2s. Not sure why, but the i2s connection seems fussy and I never feel like I have the right configuration with it.
Just curious what some of you are running for your HQP NAA setups with this thing.
Tips, tricks, tactics?
Ultimately, what do you think of the Denafrips Arce vs Eversolo DMP-A6. I have just moved from the DMP-A6 stand alone, to using the DMP-A6 as a transport. I don’t need the display, so that’s not an issue as far as the Arce is concerned.
Do you still use the AES/EBU connection ?

I got rid of the Arce because its connection/integration with HQPlayer NAA was frustratingly dodgy. Everytime i wanted to listen I’d need to either restart the mac that hosted HQPlayer or restart the HQPlayer app.
I go back and forth between the Eversolo and my Raspberry Pi/Pi2AES streamer. With the Eversolo I use USB; with the Pi i do use AES/EBU.
Thinking of getting the Eversolo T8 transport, which has AES/EBU.
So, too quirky ? I am looking at transport to replace the DMP-A6, and the T8 is as expensive as I am prepared to go. Firstly, I’m going to try the Nucleus One directly to my dac.
Yeah, aggravating that I couldn’t just start playing. Had to futz with it every time. I’ve kind of gotten away from HQPlayer, as the hassles weren’t limited to the Arce. I do think HQPlayer sounds better, but I can fairly successfully mimic its advantages simply by using Roon’s parametric equalizer.
I’m gonna move my DMP-A6 to my offsite office and use Roon ARC apk to play from my Roon core at home.
