I used OPPO for a DAC too but when I upgraded to the BENCHMARK DAC3-B, there was a huge sound quality improvement.
Then I added the SONORE opticalRendu package for more articulation…then upgraded to the Signature Rendu Deluxe for even better articulation.
…so A-B’ing will depend on how well your system articulates.
I use WAV to rip to for this reason…differences are generally not detectable but I don’t want to take any chances of coding/decoding/processing errors. My preferred music format is DSD; 1 bit; 2.88Mhz so even less chance of processing errors.
Professional studios primarily use WAV files because they edit those files. You can’t edit the music in a FLAC file. Has nothing to do with durability.
