Difficulty getting Roon to see my iPhone from my iPhone

Running Roon on my iPhone with bluetooth attached (Sony) headphones.

I don’t think this is specific to Roon, but maybe someone has some advice. I have no issues using Roon on my iPhone to connect to the core and control my WiiM Pro Plus, Denon AVR, etc. But when I’m working in the shop I wear Sony noise cancelling bluetooth headphones to listen casually while I work. Most of the time, when I go to connect on the app on my iPhone and try to select my iPhone it doesn’t appear. I have to flip through all of the open apps that could possibly have been playing audio previously (even mobile Safari if I had a website playing audio) and quit them, one by one until the iPhone shows up as available to select in the Roon app.

I don’t know if this is specifically a Roon issue, but it seems that Roon is unable to “grab” the audio connection if another app was using it last (even though nothing is playing at the time). This doesn’t seem to be an issue with other apps, however since if I was, for example, listening to YouTube and I stop playback and go to Tidal or mobile Safari or something else and start playing audio it works just fine without force quitting previous apps.

Has anyone else encountered this or have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I’m not an iPhone user so this may be well off the mark but:

Does the Roon Device setup settings for your iPhone have an ‘Exclusive mode’ toggle. If so, is it turned on?

If it is turned on, you could try turning it off.

Thanks. No unfortunately Device Setup does have Private Zone, MQA, Volume Control, etc settings, but no Exclusive mode.
