· I'm struggling to to Roon working on my Qnap nas. It has been suggested that I use docker but have no idea how to begin. Any support would be much appreciated. Thanks
The first thing you might want to do is going to the QTS desktop (log into it via browser on a computer connected to the same network) and open its “App Center”. Check if an app called “Container Station” is pre-installed or can be installed. This is the app running so-called docker containers, which is the only supported way for roon on QNAP machines.
Once this is confirmed successful, all you need is to compile three folder names on your NAS, one for the application roon (in its container), one for the music files, and one for the backup data. Someone here from roon team or the community will guide you through this process. If you could share a screenshot of your volumes and top-level folder hierarchy, it would be a lot easier. Particularly the folder where music is stored, varies from machine to machine.
Two different step-by-step guides with screenshots, which might be helpful:
Welcome to the Roon Community! Setting up Docker for the first time can definitely feel a bit overwhelming, but it is the most stable and fully supported way to run Roon on your QNAP NAS.
Please take some time to read through that guide and follow the instructions to install Container Station and configure your folders.
If you hit a roadblock, or if any part of the guide is unclear, don’t worry! Just take a screenshot of the step you are stuck on and reply right here in this thread. We will be more than happy to guide you through the rest of the process.
Following up on our last exchange, have you had a chance to read through the QNAP Docker guide and try the steps for installing Container Station and setting up the folders? If you ran into a specific step that is unclear or blocked you, please send us a screenshot of that point in the process and we can help you work through it.
Please note, if we don’t hear back from you this thread may close automatically soon. If the thread auto-closes and you need further assistance, please submit a reopen support request via the technical support help form below and specify that the issue should be reopened. Thank you.
