Digital Audio Player (DAP)

I have ordered a HiBy R6III 2025.

Its an Android based unit I understand. Will I be able to get the Roon app for this in the Google store to access my Roon server??

It’s unlikely that it will run - the DAP is “Android-based”, but the Roon app is designed for stock Android. See:

The answer is … maybe. You might be able to load the software but it might not do what you want. Many DAPs using Roon are stuck with the base Android OS resolution rate of 24/48. If you use ARC, you might be able to use the BETA USB driver in ARC, but, again that is BETA and has not worked for me on various devices.

With Roon Remote, if you can load it, you will almost certainly be stuck at the 24/48 rate if you use the DAP as an endpoint around your house.

There is a current support request for the R6 Pro DAP reporting that the app does not work because the HiBy stops playback when the screen turns off. YMMV

Well the Hiby will be here tomorrow so we’ll see what happens guys

You will NOT have any issues getting Roon on the HIBY R6III 2025. I’ve had this unit since about this time last year. It has the full official Google Play store included in the OS. It’s always worked and is currently on the latest production version. I also have the latest version of Roon ARC installed.

It’s a nice little player, and the price is right for a Cirrus Logic based CS43198 DAC. I enjoy the sound and use it often. My preferred DAP right now is the FiiO R2R…but I digress. Enjoy!
