This is tricky! I was told I could use Dirac Live by installing a direct AU plugin and using SoundSource on my Mac. And that Roon could be the output. Does anyone know anything about this? I am playing KEF LS 50 W 2 and usually use Roon on my Mac as the source. But I could use another sound program if I needed to. The idea is to incorporate the benefits of more room correction than is provided by the built in settings on the KEFs.
You can only use Dirac via output of the pc connected via usb to the speakers, using the Dirac virtual sound card that will show up on the mac and this is the zone you need to use in Roon. You cannot use it via Roon Ready on the LSW 2 as it’s only active on direct audio connection to the pc Dirac is running on.
Here is it on my Mac, I don’t use it but installed Dirac live when I had my NAD amp with it and it still shows up as an audio option.
Hmnn…well the KEF LS Wireless II unfortunately dropped their USB input so I cannot connect the speakers to the PC via USB output of the PC. Does this mean I am out of luck? I have looked into how to use some kind of adapter from the USB output of the PC into maybe the coaxial input of the KEFs but it got very confusing. If you have any suggestions I would be most grateful. There are a number of reasons why I would like to be able to make a wired connection from the PC to the KEFs, and I guess this is one of them.
I should add that the IMac has dropped it’s optical output as well! And no HDMI output! So if I want to connect to the KEFs I would need I think to find a way of going from IMac USB to one of the KEF inputs.
You could always use a USB to SPDIF converter or HDMI to SPDIF converter (you can use an adapter if your mac doesn’t have an actual HDMI port). Does it have to be Dirac? There are other room correction options (HAF, for example) that can be used with Roon.
