Hello, I have just completed an update, to be honest I don’t know what was updated, I just had a message come up on my device app and say one or more of my components needed an update. After doing the update, my Room Core now says my storage directory is unavailable. It was working just fine before the update. I don’t know what to do. I have rebooted my storage device (NAIM Uniti Core), I have rebooted the entire system and nothing has helped. It still works with Tidal but it cannot see any of my ripped CD’s. The entire system is hard wired.
@Shaun_Ledgerwood, I moved your post to the Support category. Can you please complete the template below with the information requested so Roon staff and the community can provide assistance:
Roon Server Machine
Include your operating system and machine info (Model, CPU, RAM)
Networking Gear & Setup Details
Your network gear (model of routers/switches) and if on WiFi/Ethernet
Connected Audio Devices
Specify what devices you’re using and their connection types, like USB/HDMI/Chromecast, etc.
Number of Tracks in Library
Tell us how large your music library is, eg. “30,000 tracks”
Description of Issue
Tell us about the problem you’re having in as much detail as possible. Screenshots are always appreciated!
Did you also reboot your router (and any switches)? If not, it might be worth trying before filling out the template.
Yes, thanks Dave, I did reboot the switches and the entire network.
Roon Server Machine
Intel NUC 515MYHEI5 8gb RAN 126gb\1tb ssd storage
Network Gear & Setup Details
I am running a Google/Nest Mesh Wifi Network. The core is wired to a Netgear GS108e switch, this switch is wired to one of WiFi Mesh AP’s which is wired to the main mesh control device.
I also have a SSD device connected for backup, and a USB stick for backup and also just recently added Dropbox for backup. For the purpose of trouble shooting this issue I have disconnected the all the backup devices.
Connected Audio Devices
I have a NAIM Uniti Nova amplifier wired to the Netgear switch, and a Naim Muso 2 on WiFi. I have a Naim Uniti Core wired (a CD ripper and NAS) to the Netgear switch.
Number of tracks in Library
About 10,000 tracks - 1,900 through Tidal the rest are on my NAS/Uniti Core
Description of the issue
For several months now I have been using system as described above and after some teething problems in setup, it has been working very well.
The setup in the Core for the file server is \uniticore\music (there is an arrow then a folder image and then ‘MQ’ after this?), there was a second one called \uniticore\downloads which I have now deleted trying to fix the issue. It now says “This director is not available. Check the directory or edit this folder if it’s been moved.” This happened straight after I performed an update after being requested to do so by Roon. I can still access the Unit Core directly from my Unit Nova. Note if I power the Unit Core down, unplug it, and then plug it in again, then for a few seconds the Roon Core does show the UnitiCore, but then it reverts again to not seeing it.
The only other change I recently made (today, a bit before doing the Roon update I mentioned) is I added Dropbox backup (I have now removed it temporarily), and I added an additional USB backup because my SSD backup kept failing.
@Robert_F Robert, sorry to bother you but I’m just not sure of the next steps here. Have I filled in the template correctly and do I just wait now for Roon support to get in touch. I have not used Roon support before soni just don’t know what to expect.
Yes they will answer you here in this thread as soon as as they can. There is a bit of a queue
Thanks for taking the time to write in, and sorry to hear you’re having issues getting your local library set up properly. Before anything else, can you break down your network chain more specifically?
First thing to confirm - do you have Roon setup as a proper exception within your device firewall settings?
Here is more info on what you’ll need:
This sequence of events also points to potential network-based issues. Can you recheck the wireless access DHCP settings on the main mesh control device / any switches to confirm IP’s aren’t changing in the process?
Lastly, I would also test out setting up a static IP for the storage device in question:
Thank you for coming back to me Benjamin.
As far as I know my music library does not have any firewall software or antivirus software on it. It is a NAIM Uniti Core which rips CDs straight onto a hard drive.
Should I be changing the Google Mesh Firewall in any way? There is not much to change (other than port forwarding).
I have reserved the IP addresses for the Rock, the Uniti Core and the Uniti Nova (amplifier). I still have the issue.
I must say it does feel like a network issue (but I am a total Novice), but I was using the whole system straight before doing the upgrade and it was working fine. I listen to about 45 hours a week on the Uniti Core and Streamed so it is not like I would not have noticed before.
