Disappointment with Tidal and Roon failure

i still do experience the same issues:

  • adding albums on tidal - not shown in roon
  • albums in roon simply disapear
  • synchronization seems really mega-buggy

having said that: roon currently is of no use.
as everyone is checking for alternatives - i have being looking as well. but there - unfortunately - are not too many for antipodes users (audirvana is not working on older antipodes HW). any recommendations?

That’s because…

thanks for the reply - though this not acceptable / doable for an Antipodes user as the installation on the device is not that easy as you do not have the installation rights.
having said: thanks - read, but cannot execute accordingly.

I just wanted to let you know that the fact that it is still happening is not surprising as the fix has not yet been deployed.

If you can’t switch to Early Access, then you’ll get the fix when it is moved to production, I hope this goes quickly. (And I hope some of those affected can switch to EA to test and confirm it)

is there a timeline for the fix to be deployed in the standard product?

Often they move fixes quite quickly (days) from EA to production in urgent situations, but then it depends on how Early Access testing goes. If people report the issue as fixed for them in EA, and if there are no other problems caused, it will be quicker, but if there are problems reported in EA it may need more than one round of EA release and it might take a bit longer.

They already tried a fix in the previous production update, which didn’t work or least did not fix it for everyone, so maybe there is more to fix than one single issue, and who knows. Bugs can be tricky to understand and fix, in particular if one doesn’t have direct access to affected machines for analysis. As not everyone seems to be affected [1], the issue might depend on some local conditions.

[1] At least I think so. I don’t use Tidal albums very much (I have Qobuz as well) but I can add and remove from Tidal normally, the Tidal albums I am supposed to have in my Roon library all seem to be accounted for, and they play normally.

lucky you.
if the tidal albums appear they are played normally. but they are not synchronized.

Yeah  I’m just saying that it makes it harder to understand and fix if the issue if it does not simply affect everyone, as there seem to be additional conditions that may not be obvious and may not be easy to replicate for analysis and testing at Roon Labs.

I just tried favoriting an album in the Tidal app and it syncs into my Roon library normally (and removing it in Roon syncs back to the Tidal app, too), so indeed it looks as if the issue does not happen to me. But then I only have 123 Tidal albums in Roon, so perhaps it only affects those with higher counts - or there are some entirely different factors.

Thanks for the early fix update, it’s just a pity that it doesn’t work, everything has remained the same, so old playlists, no playlists with newly released tracks, but everything has been the same for almost 3 months, not only with me but also with a friend who has similar problems. This is worthless!!

Roon is a disgrace, permanent damage of goodwill. Two failed “updates”…

  1. still can’t sync to Tidal
  2. still can’t restore from backup
  3. still no solution for subscribers who has “clean the library”
  4. still announcement of the next update (that works)
  5. still no public apology

Roon should have tested their own “updates, fixes, patches” before rolling out including Early Access versions. Don’t use the subscribers as guinea pigs. It’s infuriating.

This has been a textbook example what a company should never have done. Transparency, is it too much to ask??

Media April we noticed that there is a problem with almost all Tidal playlists in Roon. It has been apparent for some time that some albums or tracks are no longer available or available in the library, but this could somewhat be resolved. But the problems with the playlists, in any ‘form’, were mentioned more often by Roon during that period. After 3 months there is still no solution for the Tidal synchronization problem in Roon. Last Fix update against this problem was more of a joke than it fixed anything. I have the feeling, like other members of our audio club, that the problem is increasing, many members have switched to Qobuz. Within our club of approximately 25 members, there is 1 who sometimes uses Roon Arc, a list of all updates over the last 2 years indicates a prominent role of Arc within Roon, while it should primarily be that Roon (Tidal) must provide high sound quality with proper operation, as the service must be paid for. I find it strange that Roon calls in help from a ‘Just a fellow user like you’ to straighten out everything that is crooked, he frequently appears in almost all Roon Discussion sections with pointless advice. Apparently he is close to the fire and I advise him to contact Roon to find out what exactly is going on with Roon (Tidal). Maybe get some more people from Roon to focus on the problem itself. I wonder what kind of comments I’m getting now.

Thank you for the kind words.

(There’s an ignore feature and I suggest you use it. I did.)
