I would like for artist credits to display just as they are shown on any other app, as Roon’s show too much with the performers
I don’t need to see Ana Done in the Taylor swift song playing or need the collaborators on the Steely Dan tracks shown in my screenshot always shown. No other streaming service, such as Tidal where the Taylor track is pulling from show this. Then it shows all these strange artist pictures as well for them when viewing lyrics which I would prefer be disabled
Much ado about nothing, IMHO. I would prefer Roon spend their time on things that need fixing.
This is correct though. Performed by is only displayed when there are more than one Primary Artist. That is, Roon is reporting precisely what is in the metadata.
I have moved this topic to Feedback > Feature Suggestions, although I don’t see this changing as what you describe is a feature of Roon, and you are essentially asking that it be removed.
What is the difference that makes Tidal report this out (which I find to be the most relevant information), where Roon starts showing other artists? Same album, same source, one is tidal app other is Arc (I’m not home now but Roon app is the same). Tidal knows Florence is an artist in Florida, but Roon adds Ana Done to other songs who is not shown on other platforms.
This is a minor example but the original post I piggybacked on in the software discussion has all sorts of performers across tracks that fills up the media player’s screen, when we just want to see the main artists as reported by most other platforms
It’s only displaying the album artist.
Equally, I could argue, why doesn’t TIDAL include the featured artists on some of those tracks?
However, as already stated, Roon uses primary performer metadata alongside album artist, and if these are not the same, additional information is shown.
However, if the metadata are incorrect, Roon won’t know.
Personally, I want to know about these performers without having to visit credits, and if there are errors, I edit the track or release.
I pulled Artist and Album Artist as columns in the track view on Roon, and what I see is Tidal is pulling “Featured artist” and not just album artist, hence the mismatch between Roon and Tidal. That is the information I am interested in instead of the performers bloat. With all of Roons customization options for so many other views and information, I’d like this to be an option.
