Does my setup work with Roon?

Good morning,

I just want to enjoy music but it turns out to be very complicated to figure out if my setup will work with Roon. Getting in touch with you (simply sending an email) doesn’t seem to be that easy either so I hope this works. I have 2 questions.

1. I spend 10 months per year in Africa where I have a very slow satellite internet connection. Is Roon able to work without internet, assuming that I purshased my license in Europe and also built my Roon library when I still have a fast internet connection?
2. I have a stereo pair of Sonos Play:5 second generation speakers. My music files are stored on a Samsung T3 SSD that is connected to my Apple AirPort Extreme. Therefore, I can use my Sonos system from my iPhone or iPad without turning on my computer (a MacBook Pro 2016 running Sierra). How do I setup Roon with this system (so without the need to switch on my computer)?

I believe that Roon needs to verify the license every 30 days. So, you would need at least minimal internet access sometimes.

Roon needs a PC (MAC/WINDOWS/LINUX) to run the backend server as all the processing, including the audio, comes from the server.

You can run it from a portable device as long as it has enough grunt, like a Surface Pro. Not cheap new but it’ll run core and control and be as portable as an iPad.
