Does Roon Core output PCM Stream or any other content?

I’m new to Roon.

I’d like to know the output content of a Core (either on Dedicated Core or a PC/MAC).

Is that PCM stream (generated by Codec on Core)?

Or any other content/format, such as a file, or any other non-PCM stream?

The core retrieves the local file or receives the stream and processes either to PCM which is then sent to the endpoint.

It will convert all formats to PCM by default with the exception for DSD encoded formats. If the device advertises it’s support for native DSD under that OS to Roon it will pass through otherwise you will get DSD over DoP if it supports that or it will convert just to PCM if It has no DSD support at all.
