If I have an album in my Roon catalog and an MQA version becomes available on Tidal, will Roon know and update it or do I have to switch my Primary Version myself?
If so, is there a convenient way to know when an MQA version is added to Tidal?

No and no.
It’s not really an MQA question.
The same question applies if a high resolution version becomes available in Qobuz.
Or if a CD quality album becomes available in Tidal and you had only MP3 or AAC.
In no case is there automatic upgrade or notification,
