Double Last.fm scrobbling issue with Qobuz in Roon (ref#MI48BX)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Whenever I was playing Qobuz in Roon tonight, Roon was scrobbling to Last.fm twice: Once at the correct time immediately after I played it, but then also a second time exactly four hours earlier.

This happened on both the tablet where I have only the Roon Android app installed, and when I played Roon directly on my laptop where my server is located. The issue did not happen with my songs in my personal media library, only Qobuz songs. I just switched from Tidal to Qobuz and I never experienced these issues with Tidal.

Ultimately, I found what was causing it: I have Last.fm enabled on my Qobuz account. I was using the Qobuz app on my phone, instead of Roon ARC, because ARC doesn't seem to run as well on phone as I'd like compared to the Qobuz app. When I removed my Last.fm from my Qobuz account, the double scrobbling issue I was experiencing in Roon stopped.

Problem solved right? Yes, sort of. Except I still did want to have the option to use and scrobble Qobuz directly in some circumstances. And I'm also curious: Why would the second scrobble be dated four hours in the past and not one after the other? If it was the latter, I would've figured out what was wrong much faster. When I scrobbled through Qobuz on my phone, those scrobbles were posted to my Last.fm at the proper time and there was no duplication. None of my devices or accounts have ever changed time zones, so that's not the issue.

Any idea why there would be such a conflict with Last.fm scrobbling in Roon caused by having Last.fm also connected to Qobuz? And why that conflict would be making double scrobbles dated four hours in the past? And what I could do to still use and scrobble on the Qobuz Android app without having this issue when I scrobble in Roon? I could just use ARC or reconnect/disconnect Last.fm from Qobuz every time I use their app, but I do wish there was some sort of toggle here.

· just a regular router, no switches or extenders. The Qobuz app was sometimes via mobile data.

I’ve read some other threads about this issue and it seems like I’ve stumbled onto a known issue with Qobuz, Roon, and Last.fm. Not all of these are the exact same problem I’m experiencing but they’re in the same ballpark.

And so on. I particularly like that toggle idea.

Are there any community fixes that have been found since these threads were active?

I think I just figured out a work around for this: I can just use Panoscrobbler (or the official Last.fm app) in conjuction with the Qobuz mobile app instead of using its built-in last.fm scrobbler. That would solve the double scrobbling from Roon, and I could keep using Qobuz on my phone when I want to. I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me before.

I’m marking this as a solution just in case anyone else comes along wondering the same thing.

Would still be interested in a scrobbling on/off toggle in Roon, and I’m still wondering about the four hour difference between the Roon and Qobuz scrobbles.
