DSD on upcoming Marantz AV10 Roon Ready

Hi, asked this question on the Marantz forum but they shoot it back to you Guys:

"Hi again, one extra question for the Roon Ready update: will the AV10 support multichannel or DSD or both together directly via RAAT?

In terms of Roon supporting multichannel DSD, we would advise reaching out to Roon.

From the Marantz documentation the only supported 5.1-channel DSD playback method on the AV10 is via an HDMI connection (from a compatible 5.1-channel DSD source).

It could be possible that RAAT can send a 5.1-channel DSD signal, but Roon would have to confirm this as we are not certain"

RAAT supports multichannel DSD, provided the connected device advertises to Roon (via RAAT) that it supports that format.

I’d put money that Marantz have not implement it though, as that’s par for course from the AV industry. Typically it’s only implement via the HDMI interface

I’m reasonably sure Masimo/Sound United has stated that the current HEOS hardware is strictly two channel, so no multichannel over RAAT>HEOS.

HEOS which is the hardware platform that handles all streaming on Marantz/Denon doesn’t support multichannel. Roon is a layer on top of this so no it won’t support it. The people at Massimo who own D&M have said this so many times Heos would need new hardware to support multichannel it wasn’t built for it. Currently all models support stereo only via HEOS. DSD is purely via USB or HDMI.
