· I have a new Aurender N20 with latest version, Roon Rock latest version and a Marantz SACD 10 CD/DAC connected via USB. If I play DSD files with Conductor app or JPlay then the Marantz get the DSD stream and it plays perfect. I mostly use Roon and then the DSD stream is converted to PCM 352khz by Roon. I would like Native DSD or DoP to work. Please help, thank you.
According to the diagnostic data we received, your Aurender DAC supports DSD natively.
Could you please share a screenshot of the Device Setup for the Aurender? Also, if you have any DSP enabled in Muse, could you please share a screenshot of that as well?
If I configure the device for Native DSD the option to set the max DSD rate disappears and then DSD is converted to PCM. If I configure the device as DoP then DSD works fine and I can set the max DSD rate in device setup
When you use Conductor or JPlay, Aurender talks to the Marantz using its own USB audio stack, and when the Aurender is used as a Roon endpoint, Roon relies on what Aurender reports to Roon and what Aurender reports the DAC can do over USB.
So the overall issue here appears to be that the Aurender does not expose Native DSD capability to Roon properly.
After reviewing the N20 feature page, this unfortunately might be a case where Native DSD isn’t actually possible. The N20 start guide mentions:
“On some Aurender models (see “File Type & Resolution Support” comparison table below), “Native” DSD output is available via USB. However, only a very small handful of select DACs support “Native” DSD input FROM A LINUX BASED SOURCE.”
