Describe the issue

I am new to Roon. I have a very "bright" room and want to use Roon to get rid of some higher frequencies. I have an Aurender A15. If I use DSP should I click on System or Aurender?

Arunder A15

Hi @Joseph_Galati,
Welcome to the Roon Community. Thanks for reaching out to ask us about this issue. Can you share a screenshot of what you’re referring to?

Additionally here is an article that gives more details about MUSE and how it works. https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/muse

Thank you,
There are two icons in the lower right corner of the screen. One is my Aurender A15 and the other is System Output. When I’m working with DSP which one should I choose? I am really new to Roon and at 72 years old, somewhat technologically challenged.
Thanks for your understanding.

Those are your audio outputs that you have enabled in Roon - Settings - Audio. I don’t remember if DSP is specific to one or the other or applies to both. I would choose the Aurender A15 if that’s what you are using.

MUSE settings are always specific to the respective zone chosen, and remain set for it even when switching to another zone in between.

If your Aurender zone is the offending bright sounding one, then apply MUSE EQ with it selected and showing in the lower right corner.

To effect a treble reduction, select and activate a high shelf filter, its corner frequency in the treble region and a negative gain value to lower the amplitude.
A small Q value makes the filter slope gentler, more smoothly blending from low to high frequencies, while higher Q makes for steep transition slope.
Then play with the values to satisfaction.

Hope that helped a bit and good luck.

Maybe also look at my rather old but still relevant post with some screen shots, probably saying more than a thousand words

Can’t thank you enough. I have no idea what or how “System Output” appeared. It must have been something I did in the beginning. I plan on having only one zone, that being the one that utilizes the Aurender A15. Any and all MUSE EQ changes I make, I will use that zone.
I’m sure I will have more questions and I thank you in advance for helping me out.

Thanks again,

When I select a high-shelf filter there are seven (7) bands. Which one do I choose? Or do I work with each one?

On a different note, is there an advantage to purchasing a stand-alone Roon server as opposed to using a PC?

Thanks again.

Lower the high frequencies.

You may add/remove bands at your discretion, but just need to activate one and deactivate/delete the others to implement what you‘re after.
Deactivated bands do not interfere.
Just make sure that it‘s setup as explained earlier and you‘re good to go.

As long as the machine‘s computing power is sufficient for the tasks, thus not causing stuttering, dropouts, and stoppages, you don‘t have to worry at all.
