Dumb UI questions: why is the zone switch a volume submenu, and can we have pre-grouped zones?

This is one that’s baffled me forever. I’d chalked it on a holdover from the Sooloos days, with lower resolution screens and all that, but that it’s still there in 1.8 has had me reconsider the issue…

Why in the name of all that is holy is zone transferring accessed by going through a minuscule target on top of volume, and not, as would seem to make quite a bit more intuitive sense, through… zones ?

Another thing I never quite got the logic of is why it isn’t possible to pre-define zone groups. Let’s say that when I’m cooking, I go from my living room to my kitchen, and that I’d like to have my playlist of Hangin’ Tough covers and medleys playing in both, and that I do that every day.

Let’s also assume that in the mornings, my partner would rather have coffee in the living room to Laibach, while I’m listening to my Step By Step morning mix.

Why is it that I’d need to group, then ungroup, my kitchen and my living room systems, then make a new group that same evening, and so on, and so forth ? Wouldn’t it be better to offer an option to memorize groups ?

I’ve often wondered the same, and end not bothering with groups due to the hassle.

Ditto with it being under volume, I can vaguely understand why DSP is there but a switch to button next to each zone would seem more logical.

How can it be, the zone switcher used to be on the previous Now Playing screen aka Theater View before that volume sub-menu was even in existence.
