Describe the issue

Tracks vervielfachen sich

Describe your network setup

Router (FRIRTZ!Box), WiFi

It happens from time to time that tracks multiply strangely. When I play such a track, Roon often shows me that all these tracks are playing at the same time. Sometimes, however, complete chaos ensues. I checked the tags of the files in the screenshot, and they are fine. I edited them again, then deleted the files and re-imported them, but that didn’t change anything.

I hope I’m allowed to say that it really annoys me that at least half of the time I want to spend listening to music is taken up with overcoming the absurdities that this software constantly produces.

Hi @Werner_Hintze ,

Thank you for sharing the details and screenshots.

This behavior usually occurs when Roon’s internal database keeps multiple references to the same file paths typically after reimports or folder rescans .

Please try the following steps:

  1. Check Storage Paths

Go to Settings → Storage and make sure that the same music folder isn’t added twice under different paths .

If duplicates appear, remove one of the entries.

  2. Force a Clean Library Refresh
    • Temporarily disable the storage location.
    • In Settings → Library, choose Clean Up Library and confirm to remove “deleted” files.
    • Then reenable the storage folder - Roon will rescan the files from scratch.

Also, can you please clarify which device you are running your Roon Server on so we can request analytics report from your machine and analyze it ?

Thanks!

Regards.

Hi @Werner_Hintze,

Please let us know when you’ve had a chance to try the steps above.

If you’re still having difficulty afterwards, please share these additional details:

  1. Did you manually tag or edit any of the affected tracks using a third-party software outside Roon? The more detail you can provide about tagging or manual edits you’ve made, the better equipped we’ll be to pin down what’s wrong.

  2. Can you share a screenshot of your Storage → Settings → Watched Folders path for any of the affected tracks/albums?

We’ll watch for your response. Thank you!

I made a clean library reset. So far, I haven’t noticed any further problems, but I can’t constantly check the entire library to see if everything is still OK.

Of course, I edited the tags outside of Roon (using MP3Tag), as this isn’t possible in Roon.
