Eero Mesh Networks - What' the net net on configuration to get Remotes working?

Problem: My iOS and PC Windows Roon "remote clients can’t see the Core running hard wired from a non-managed Netgear 8 port switch connected that is hard wired to the Internet connected Eero “gateway”’ router. All the devices appear to be on the same subnet yet its a no go. Does anyone have a solution for this issue others than Eero net bridging and inserting an add’l ported wireless router between my modem and the Eero net? I’ve read several threads (including Roon Support) from the past couple of years and is not clear as to the best path for the specifically Eero hardware. Thanks for your input.

Hello @Bob_Dostie, and thanks for your report! I’d like to understand more about the network infrastructure you have in place and how exactly your core is connected to the network. Are you able to provide a brief networking diagram so I can assist you better?

@nuwriy, I’ve isolated the issue. The issue had nothing to do with the networking. The issue is with the adding music storage. In my case it’s about adding a music folder from a USB drive. Once I removed the drive the behavior stopped. I was able to replicate the problem as well. I did run a windows disk scan an the integrity and the files checked out from a file perspective. What seem to happen is upon the start of the import metadata load is the following: 1) Load stated normal with imports. However, at some point the server goes into a not responding, error, start, ready mode that cycles, Could this be related to corrupt metadata tagging on a file? I thought I read somewhere something like this happened to someone else. Is the an error log we could review to isolate/trap the problem. Please advise. Thanks. Bob

Hello @Bob_Dostie, could you please reproduce the issue one more time and reply here with a timestamp when you do? Then use the directions found here and send us over a set of logs using a shared Dropbox link.

@nuwriy,

Here’s the log file. I was able to replicate the issue…

Roon core started fine, However, upon adding my audio file folder on a USB 3.0 Drive as storage at about the 900 file import mark or so the roon core went unstable. it would error out, not respond, restart and cycle. In addition, the remote lost connection and could not reconnect successfully.

Which points to the folder D:\Audio Master\1 Dostie\Doobie Brothers. If you remove that item from the USB drive does the issue persist?

@nuwriy,Thanks for the follow up. Although deleting the folder you specified did not work. The issue is moot given I just purchased and successfully configured a new NUC 10i7 that utilized the USB music file drive in question. Please close the case. thanks for your support.

Regards,
Bob
