Describe the issue
I power up all devices for that end point. Wait until it shows. Music plays for a minute and the endpoint disappears before connecting a minute later. I have to manually start the music playing again.
Describe your network setup
Microrendunia connected to a power line adapter directly which has a partner plugged a unifi UDM router.
Can you please let us know the exact local time + date when this issue next occurs? We’ll enable diagnostics and check logs for clues.
Powerline adapters have caused similar issues in the past, are you able to temporarily connect the Microrendu directly to the router to verify if the issue persists with that connection method?
I have started playing at 10.58 am 23/10/2025 uktime and the playback stopped 1 minute and 40 seconds later at 11.00 am . The zone dropped off roon and re-appeared at 11:01
This powerline has been in place for 6 years and I have only seen this issue in the last couple of months. It is very consistent, I start playing, the zone drops out after a minute and the zone re-appears and then playback is rock-solid for hours until i stop it.
This zone is quite a distance from the router and the server, so I can’t run a network cable, and because of the specific outputs of the microrendu i don’t have any other hardware around the house that can take a usb input for playback. I will try something if there is nothing obvious in the logs, but it will be a serious undertaking to move playback to the router if there is nothing obvious in the logs.
It’s now 11.30 and playback has bee perfect since the initial glitch, changed album and no issue.
I am away from the house for a couple of days. I will try again when I return. However I was sat in front of the windows remote as it was playing and no connection seemed to be lost to me. The track was playing and ticking through the timer, the track stopped, the remote showed “no endpoint available” and then a minute or two later the enpoint showed back up and I pressed play again.
The endpoint that went unavailable was the Microrendu endpoint. It’s not a stoppage in playing per se, the endpoint just becomes unavailable, there are no error messages
Thanks for sharing that information @Matthew_Clegg, we were able to take a closer look at the diagnostic report from the other day and saw
Error: while sending frames for Sonore microRendu: serverside buffer overrun
This indicates that your server is generating or sending audio data faster than the microRendu can consume it. The buffer (a temporary holding area for the audio stream) fills up, and once full, the server can’t send new frames, resulting in a “server-side buffer overrun.”
One area to review:
[Enhanced 12.7x, 24/176 TIDAL FLAC => DSD64]
You’re upsampling a 24-bit / 176 kHz FLAC stream from TIDAL to DSD64, which is a bigger computational and data-rate increase.
DSD64 = 2.8 MHz bitstream- roughly 10–15× the data rate of the original FLAC.
If your server can’t stream it to the endpoint in real-time (due to CPU, network, or RAAT buffering issues), the buffer fills and overflows.
If you disable all DSP, do you experience the same issue?
Retried tonight (19.56) without changing the DSP settings, wondering whether the update has resolved the issue. 1.33 into playing, the endpoint dropped again. It returns, skips to the next track and then plays fine when i click the play button. It then proceeded to play fine for the rest of the evening. I will change the DSP settings and try again tomorrow.
Not sure I buy the network theory, it is super odd to me that it stops after 90 seconds every time then is rock solid
Just one question - unrelated. I thought i’d clarify my understanding:
I think DSD64 should be less network intensive than the 24/176, DSD is single bit stream so 2.8224 MHz×1 bit/sample×2 channels=5.6448 Mbps - the 24/176 is passed by roon as PCM so 176,400 samples/s×24 bits/sample×2 channels=8.4672 Mbp.
OK removed any audio processing. Started playing at 20:19, dropped after 30 seconds, went back to select an audio zone. Remote still connected. 20:20 sone back and skipped onto next track, requires manual click of play button to start playing
Interestingly I re-enabled the muse processing and some tracks dropped out, but giving the “loading slowly” message - realized the preset was DSD 256 and clearly a network issue. But showed completely different behavior , skipping to the next track and trying to play again.
We’re seeing the same error causing playback to halt:
Error: while sending frames for Sonore microRendu: serverside buffer overrun
Let me know if you’re able to temporarily simplify your network setup to get a more direct hardwire connection from your microRendu to your primary router, as well as your ROCK, and if the same issue occurs.
Thanks for the update! Interesting indeed - troubleshooting the microrendue is a good idea. Perhaps performing a factory reset on the device could be helpful in this case, let me know if you’re able to give that a try.
