Endpoints disappear after a Mac M1 restart
Asus XT8
My Roon Server is running on a Mac mini (M1 w/ 8 GB RAM; macOS 26). I restarted that Mac, but the Server was unable to find any of my networked endpoints. This is exactly the same issue I had earlier (see ref#PS8HD6).
This time, I tried (in order):
At this point, Roon found all of the endpoints.
The last time, someone asked see my older RAATServer folders, but I wasn’t able to do that.
I have ZIP files of the 2 RAATServer folders. I can’t find a way to upload to this thread. I can put them up on my iCloud server, unless you have a preferred method.
Hope this helps,
rob
Hi @Rob_Welles,
Thank you for reaching out to Roon Support.
As mentioned, the RAATServer folder will not provide any useful information in this case. This behavior is a known issue that our R&D team is actively investigating.
Several users have reported that performing multiple restarts of the Roon Server (from the taskbar/system tray) temporarily restores device connectivity until the next reboot. Please try this workaround and let us know if it resolves the issue on your side as well.
In addition, could you please confirm the following so we can better understand your environment:
Your answers will help us narrow down the cause while the permanent fix is being worked on.
We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more information from the investigation.
If this happens to me again, I’ll try multiple restarts. In this case, it connected after the 4th restart.
Thanks for the update and for your patience while we continue to work through this @Rob_Welles ![]()

Hello @Rob_Welles,
Thank you for the update.
From the diagnostic data, we can see that your system currently has both Wi-Fi and Ethernet enabled at the same time. This can cause routing conflicts with Roon’s network communication.
Before we escalate this to our internal tracker, could you please disable Wi-Fi on the device and test again using only the wired Ethernet connection?
Please let us know the results.
Hi @vadim ,
I assuming that you refer “the device,” you mean the Mac mini that runs the Roon Server.
So turn off Wi-Fi, restart the Mac. If networked endpoints aren’t found, then keep restarting until they do.
Is that about right? Are there other troubleshooting steps I should take?
regards,
rob
Hello @Rob_Welles
Thank you for the update.
That’s correct
In this case, the main goal is to see if the endpoints appear after the initial startup when only a single network interface (Ethernet) is active. If the endpoints do not appear right away, please restart just the Roon Server from the taskbar (or menu bar on macOS) a few times and let us know whether that changes the behavior.
It would also be very helpful if you could note the exact local date and time when you perform these tests, so we can correlate this with the diagnostic data.
But actually if not please retstart the Roon server from the task bar multiple times and let us know the results. Would be also good to know the exact timestamp when you will perform the tests.
No additional steps are required at this moment — just the above tests.
Please keep us updated with your findings.
Hi @vadim ,
2:48 pm PST - Restarted the Mac mini that runs Roon Server and Roon Client
2:50 - Roon comes up w/o finding any network endpoints, does find System clients (which are always found)
2:51 - Restarted the Roon Server software only. Reopened Roon - no network endpoints
2:53 - Restarted the Roon Server software only. Reopened Roon - no network endpoints
2:54 - Restarted just the client software. Same result
2:55 - Restarted the Roon Server software only. Reopened Roon - no network endpoints
2:56 - Restarted the Roon Server software only. Reopened Roon - no network endpoints
At this point, I would try turning local network access in Privacy & Security sys prefs, restarting my router, restarting the Mac mini (running Server s/w), and finally renaming the the RAATServer folder to force Roon to create a fresh copy.
I’ll try to wait a bit to see if you have suggestions for me to try. Hope it’s soon cuz I’m starting to jones w/o my Roon!!

Approx 3:53 I was able to get the Server to find the network endpoints!! Just prior, I took the following steps
Restarted my router, turned off Sys Prefs > Privacy & Security > Local Network for both Roon & Roon Server, then back on. Restarted the Mac mini running Roon Server.
Now it’s all back as it should be. I’m off to listen to some more music!!!
I hope the information I’ve provided is useful to you and your team!!

Would it be okay if I updated to the latest macOS (26.1)?
Hi @Rob_Welles,
Thanks for the update - it does seem to appear that you’ve run into this issue multiple times over the last year or so.
Usually, you’re able to recover your audio devices the next morning without making any changes or updates.
I’d be curious - do you have any additional firewall or network security within your router?
Hi Benjamin,
I do have a basic software firewall on my Asus XT8 turned on, but nothing else.

Hello @Rob_Welles,
Thank you for the update.
I reviewed the diagnostic data on your account, but I do not see any Roon Server restarts recorded during the times you mentioned. Could you please clarify how you performed the restarts? For example, did you restart the Roon Server application specifically (from the menu bar icon), or did you restart only the Roon client application?
This information will help us understand whether the expected server-side events were triggered and guide the next steps.
Hi @vadim ,
In my earlier post, when I wrote “Roon Server software”, I mean Roon Server. In those cases, it means quitting the Server from the menu bar. There was once case when I restarted just the client to see if that made a difference. It is clearly indicated.
I would like to update my Mac mini to macOS 26.1. This will necessitate restarting the computer. If you like, I could do further testing then.
regards,
rob
Hello @Rob_Welles ,
Yes, if you would like to try to update your macOS version, you can give that a try and let us know if it helps. I saw a related reports that said that they were able to resolve this behavior by enabling “full disk access” for Roon in the macOS settings, can you please also give that a try if the update still has the same behavior? Thanks!
Hey @noris ,
Thanks for letting me know! I get to it in the next few days. I’ll include a time log as before.
I just checked on the Full Disk Access. It was switched off. I coulda sworn I’d turned it on before! Maybe the update to 26.0 changed it??
I’ll run a test to see if that helped before I update.
regards
Just finished updating my Mac. It went very smoothly!! I initiated the update at 2:32 pm (PT). It had already finished when I went back to check at 2:37. The OS prompted me to see if I wanted give local network access. I clicked Allow. Roon Server had already restarted, so of course it couldn’t find any endpoints.
At 2:38, I shut down Roon Server (w/o restarting the Mac mini).
At 2:39 I restarted up Roon Server. All endpoints were found!
At 2:40 I restarted the Mac mini. All endpoints were found again!!
That is excellent news @Rob_Welles - happy listening! ![]()
