Describe the issue

Lifetime not functional after updates break endpoint connections- Repeatedly, when a new update is pushed out, all my endpoints get lost and cannot be seen. I have tried to follow instructions on reinstall from forum but cannot find a recent forum entry which correctly describes how to do a full re-install and clean all old elements with current Roon file structure. Now my login is hanging up and installations are stuck on the Roon waiting symbol. Very disappointed and frustrated and I would appreciate clear instructions to start completely fresh. I have now been without audio endpoints for over 2 months. Mac OS X Sequoia on Mac mini 2023. Main endpoints are blue sound power nodes and apple HomePods. many thanks.

Describe your network setup

Starlink to Unifi dream machine, Switch aggregation and hardwired 1GB connections to blue sound endpoints. HomePods via wifi

Hi @jonathan3 ,

Welcome to the forum.

macOS Sequoia (version 15), has tighter (and more obfuscated) network security settings than preceding MacOS versions.

Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, and make sure Roon is allowed.

If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

If the above does not help, you can perform a full reinstall of Roon with the below instructions:

Let’s try a fresh database and see if your issues persist:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

Here is the process outlined from a macOS machine:

Hi Noris, Thank you. Roon and Roon server were allowed in Local network. Toggled off and then on. The Roon server running in the task bar might have been the culprit to the failed re-installs. Now running a fresh install and blue sound power nodes are present. Only HomePods via wifi not present. Many thanks for your prompt support.

Hello @jonathan3,

Thank you for the update — we’re glad to hear that the reinstall resolved the main issue!

Could you kindly clarify whether you’re still experiencing issues with the HomePods?
If they’re connected via WiFi, are they on the same network/subnet as your Roon Server?
Also, did the HomePods work correctly before the reinstall? If so, has anything in your network setup changed since then?

Looking forward to your response so we can assist further.
