Equalized bass vs sub

Hi
I like bass—played the bass fiddle for many years. My question is this: is it better to set a subwoofer high and then damp it down using Roon’s Parametric equalizer or to set the subwoofer flat with the main speakers and then boost it a bit? I have “main” speakers with 3” midrange drivers that are going to give up on anything below 80 hz.

I would recommend you speakers with bigger woofers. Anyway, you best set the subwoofer on 110 Hz or so and the adjust the volume of the subwoofer till you’re satisfied. EQing the bass up with DSP only ask for more power from the poweramp.
