In my library there is the “Fireball” album (Deep Purple).
The track n.3 is recognized as “Strange kind of woman” but is actually “Demon’s Eye”.
The tags in the file are correct.
I know I could modifiy manually the metatag used (prefer those in file) but I think there is something wrong with the central Roon database.
I have tried to re-identify the track, with no success.
Maybe, maybe not. Depending on the tagging software used, the file may contain a direct “Release ID” link that could potentially be wrong in your case. We don’t know as you didn’t share your file metadata.
I would try to re-identify the album instead and see if Roon offers you a matching “UK” dataset for the album.
If no matching dataset is offered, then you’re probably right and Roon’s data for that album might be lacking / messed-up.
In my experience it is of no use in such cases as yours to prefer file data (mainly track title) as Roon behind the curtain still thinks of it as the other track which may lead to incorrect statistics and other unwanted results. If Roon currently doesn’t offer a matching “UK” dataset, then you’re better off to rely on file data completely by declaring the album as unidentified using the identifying process linked above (hint: select “doesn’t match” when offered). You may re-identify the album then again later, if Roon is able to rectify its metadata.
