Description of Issue

I am streaming Qobuz through a i5 computer to my network hardwired. When playing an album it stops and displays a popup saying Qobuz loading slowly and then skips to the next song. I don’t understand how it could be a network issue as the Raspberry Pi is hardwired directly to the Router via Ethernet and my service has alot of bandwith.

Could it be my ethernet cable? I have a lifetime subscription and will be really bummed if I can’t get this resolved. Can someone do a diagnostic?

Hi David,

Fellow user here. Are you running a DNS service like PiHole? If not, then try setting your DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 and see if that improves things.

Don’t have PiHole. I was hoping for a diagnostic test from the support staff.

Can anyone help?

Hi David,

Did you review your DNS settings and try the ones I’d suggested? I didn’t follow up since you basically implied you wanted to wait for official staff to respond.

I’d be happy to help if you want. Otherwise, I’ve pinged @support for you.

I thought you meant I had to have Pi Hole. I will look at the DNS settings. Thanks.

No, sorry. It was two different things, kind of an IF then Y. PiHole has been known to cause issues. I was just asking if you had it. If not, then I was suggesting you try changing your DNS.

Can support help me? I paid for a lifetime sub and this is very frustrating.

Hey @David_Burkholder,

Apologies for the delay in getting to your thread! @Rugby is steering you in the right direction with testing out your DNS settings. Were you able to give that a try?

Another thing to test - does this issue affect file resolution? Please test out a few different resolutions and let me know the results.

Lastly, I would update both your core and remotes to the lastest Roon build, and let me know if the issue persists.

Thanks!

It stalls in MP3 too

I saw someone else with this problem had someone at Roon do a diagnostic. Can’t I get this done? I can’t get it to work reliably.

Hi David,

Fellow user here, Did you ever try the DNS changes I suggested? I’m sure @benjamin will be by.

Hey @David_Burkholder,

We’ve reviewed your core diagnostic, but only see reoccurring network and poor connection errors. Can you provide more information around your network? Issues like these can often times be resolved by changing your DNS settings as @Rugby has mentioned.

Give that a test and let me know how things go. :+1:

Thanks Ben. I switched from automatically assign from ISP to primary and secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1. I’ll report back.

Thanks. Trying it out.

I appreciate the help Rugby and Ben. I think the DNS change helped but it still happens periodically. Instead of happening every once every 3-4 songs…Now it’s every 7-8 songs

That’s a positive development. What if you reverse the Primary and Secondary and see if there is an improvement or the same; while you wait for @benjamin to weigh in.

Thanks for the update @David_Burkholder!

If possible, jot down the date and time next time you experience this issue, and share that information here. I’m curious to see what your diagnostics report after updating your DNS settings.

Can you confirm that you have the latest firmware updates for this router? Can you check your router to ensure that multicast filtering is enabled (or, what options you have there?)

I’d also give your router a restart to ensure your settings have fully updated to the changes you’ve added.

As another test, are you able to temporarily host your core on another machine?

Thanks!
