Describe the issue

I have an Esoteric K-03, it has 3 modes : normal, high speed 1 and high speed 2. Roon works fine with high speed 1, but when i swtich to 2, roon gives me an error that it lost control of the device.

Describe your network setup

ethernet, switch, then router

Hi @rawiabouleila,
Welcome to the Roon community. Thanks for reaching out to us to ask about this issue. In the user manual for your Esoteric it says that high speed 1 and 2 need specialized drivers installed on the computer before connecting the esoteric.

Did you install those drivers before you connected the Esoteric?

Hi,

Yes drivers for windows and Apple were installed on each machine respectively according to manual while the Esoteric was not connected. Then operating system was left to start adequately.

Both operating systems produced the same results with playback from Qobuz and Tidal directly under Exclusive Mode (without Roon). Playback was ok under normal setting. HS1 and HS2 played resolutions up 92 and skipped at higher resolutions.

Then upon installing Roon, HS1 worked great up to 176.4 and I did not test higher rates. HS2 (asynchronus) with Roon returned an ertor stating that “Roon lost control of the device” and hence my message to support.

Thx.

Rawi

Hey @rawiabouleila,

Thanks for the confirmation!

If you’re running into playback issues outside of Roon, it may be worth troubleshooting your local network connection. Have you tested using different cables with the K-03?

I’d also simplify your network chain - get a direct ethernet connection from both the endpoint as well as your Roon Server to your primary router. Bypass all other network gear temporarily.

I’d also temporarily disable any firewall or third party antivirus software to see if your issue persists.
