Describe the issue

I am using an original Eversolo DMP-A6 as a Roon Ready endpoint.

My Roon Server is running on an M3 iMac. My music library is stored on a TerraMaster NAS. The problem occurs with both grouped playback and single-zone playback. I have now isolated it to the Eversolo itself because it also happens when the DMP-A6 is the only active endpoint.

Symptoms:

Roon displays: "Audio stopped because input switched."
Playback pauses.
Pressing Play resumes playback immediately.
The DMP-A6 exits the Roon Ready playback screen and returns to the Internal Player, showing the first track in my local library (alphabetically). It does not actually begin playing that track.

Network investigation:

Continuous ICMP ping to the DMP-A6 shows no packet loss.
Typical latency is around 2 ms with only an occasional brief spike (~75–85 ms).
There are no request timeouts.

Relevant Roon log entries:

Warn: long rtt sync ...

GOT {"status":"Lost","reason":{"reason":"source_deselected"}}

source = not_selected

From my interpretation, it appears the endpoint is explicitly reporting source_deselected and changing its source away from Roon, rather than Roon losing connectivity to the endpoint.

Could you please review the diagnostics and determine whether this behaviour originates from the Roon RAAT protocol or from the endpoint implementation?

Thanks for writing in, and welcome to the community! Sorry to hear it’s an issue thats prompted your recent post.

We were able to review a fresh Roon Server diagnostic report, and can see the device sent Roon a Lost / source_deselected message and simultaneously reported its source control moving to not_selected. Roon Server was the recipient, it reacted correctly by marking the endpoint Idle and stopping the stream. There is no server-side error, timeout, or Roon-initiated disconnect anywhere in the trace.

source_deselected is a message the RAAT client (the Eversolo) emits to announce that its active audio source is no longer the Roon Ready input, i.e., the device switched itself off the Roon source (back to its Internal Player). Roon’s RAAT implementation is behaving correctly; it’s simply honoring what the device told it. So this originates in the Eversolo firmware, not in Roon or RAAT.

A few next steps for you to consider:

  • Update/reinstall the DMP-A6 firmware and re-enable Roon Ready fresh; check for any device setting that auto-switches input or auto-returns to the Internal Player (screensaver/standby, auto-source detection, gapless/exclusive-mode quirks).
  • Try the DMP-A6 on Ethernet to rule out its WiFi stack, though the evidence already points away from the network.
  • Triple check you don’t have any other audio software or programs that could be stealing The A6.
  • If you haven’t yet, I’d share this report with Eversolo directly.

We’re eager to investigate this further since we haven’t seen broad reports of endpoint control issues with the DMP-A6. There’s possibily an environmental variable we can pin down.

What other software are you running on this network that might have a control-layer interface with the Eversolo? That would include other audio software (Tidal/Qobuz/Apple Music) and any manufacturer firmware from Eversolo.
