I cannot seem to figure out how to configure my Eversolo Play so it will accept DSD from Roon. I can play back DSD files from a USB connected to the Play, but if I try to play DSD from Roon, Roon insists on converting to 24-bit PCM beforehand. There are no DSD options listed in the “Device Setup” tab, so it looks as though Roon thinks the Play is not DSD-capable? Has anyone had any luck with this?
Which option in Roon - Settings - Audio have you enabled for this device? How is it connected to Roon?
If you mean that you don’t see the DSD line like exists in my screen pic, then yes, Roon is basically telling you that the Play has reported to it, that it cannot do DSD.
Double check the Play device settings, which I think is under USB DAC Output settings, and select Native DSD.
A bit unrelated but how do you like the Eversolo Play? I have one arriving today. And, if I may ask, what speakers are you using with it?
Thanks for the reply. It seems like I may need to check with Eversolo on this, as it appears that the Play is definitely not telling Roon that it can do DSD. This is surprising, since I can play DSD on it from a connected USB and also from my Plex server. Must be a bug.
It’s too early for me to have much of an impression, honestly; I just got it yesterday!
Just trying to get it optimized for my setup and the Roon experience on it so far has been absolutely rock solid … except for this DSD issue. I’m using old Mirage speakers, so not anything fancy at all. ![]()
Did you check the Play settings I suggested above.
While some EverSolo devices support DSD512 via USB, Roon RAAT may only support DSD256 and may not do native DSD either.
In some cases it will convert on the fly from DSD512 to DSD256 but via RAAT it’ll be DoP.
I did check the settings and it still didn’t work.
Eversolo claims that their PLAY App is not guaranteed compatible with MacOS, but it works fine.
Hope that you are pleased with the PLAY. We find that it is a great unit and with the Q Acoustics speakers, it is a very nice little system.
