Mac mini Digital out to optical in Rotel RA-12

Description Of Issue

Hello there

I just setup Roon for my mom. It’s on an old Mac mini 2014 and I’m just trying with one album at the moment. I might change the HDD with a SSD.

I’m a bit surprised by the signal path: it shows “Built-in output” instead of the speaker. On my core I remember seeing the speaker. Is this normal behaviour?

What type of connection are you using and what does the settings audio display show for options?

Thanks Mike for your help.

Here it is:

I use a optical cable, Toslink it’s called I believe.

Ok, do you recall what the Rotel RA-12 tab was listed before you renamed it?

I’m not familiar with Macs so hopefully someone will chime in with an answer.

Let me restart everything and see. Yeah I might have changed the name.

This is what I see now…

Hi @Support…is this normal behaviour?

Hi @Gigatoaster ,

Yes, that looks like an expected signal path, are you having any issues with output?

All good I guess. I was confused because I use a second core at the moment and it looks different from my first one, which uses USB instead of optical out and showing the USB “Teac” device on it.
