Experiencing slowness with Nucleus

Experiencing same slowness here with a Nucleus and Roon 1.6.
I really hope this will be solved.

Hi @Serge_Libotte,

I’ve split your post into its own Topic so we can take a closer look at what you’re experiencing. So we can better assist you, please provide a brief description of your current setup using this link as a guide.

Make sure to describe your network configuration/topology, including any networking hardware currently in use, so we can have a clear understanding of how your devices are communicating.

Can you describe some examples of what kind of slowness you’ve seen? Does this occur for all remotes? Does rebooting make things faster, even if temporarily?

Hello,

Here is the setup:
Ethernet câbles are mostly Cat8 Supra but I use a Cat6 Audioquest to the amplifier.
Netgear internet cable router in bridged mode, Apple AirPort Extreme doing the DHCP with fixed IP configured based on Mac adresses and serving WiFi, SoTM switch. The Nucleus feed the Devialet Expert 200 via Ethernet. Both are connected to the SoTM.
I just measured internet speed and it’s 90 Mbit.
I regularly scan the network to detect any issue and there are none.

Restart of the Nucleus improves the speed but it doesn’t last long before going slow again. Music libraries are a NAS and Tidal (I also used Qobuz and removing it didn’t improved the speed)
I control Roon with an iPad. Next time I experience slowness I will check if I have the same issue from my MacBook.

Measurements are pretty inconsistant. For instance the search speed is currently quite decent (around 2s)

While I mostly complain about the search speed I also experienced multiple minutes waiting from a tap on the album link of the playing record.

Hi @Serge_Libotte,

Can you confirm how many tracks total are in your library? You can find this info on the Overview screen in Roon.

The next time that you’re in this state where things seem slow, I was hoping you could perform the following test. Please make a note of the time that you start the test and how long each step takes:

  1. Run a speed test here and report your results in your response
  2. Open Overview page.
  3. Open Discover page.
  4. Perform a search for “The Beatles”.
  5. Open “The Beatles” artist page.
  6. Open the “Help!” album page.
  7. Start playback of “Help!” (how long does it take before it plays?).
  8. Search for “Daft Punk”.
  9. Open the “Daft Punk” artist page.
  10. Open the “Random Access Memories” album page.
  11. Start playback of “Random Access Memories”.

Respond here with the times for each and the time that you started (and your timezone). I’ll pass these results along to the team to aid in their investigation.
