Failure of Nucleus+ updating accordingly

Please, help!

Nucleus+ won’t update to a new version. - For a few months the problem has been the same, just returning with “There was an error checking for an update.”

Since today the problem classifies for me as severe: My Mac version (2.0, build 1303) prevents roon client from starting because of the Nucleus+ problem (see above).

And, please see the attached screenshots for

  • today’s error message and
  • the status of the Nucleus+

Best,

Manfred

It is cut off at the bottom of your screenshot, but it looks like you are using a static IP setup. This is most likely misconfigured. Static IPs are a very frequent source of such problems because people mess it up or forget to update them if something changes in the network.

It may just work if you simply use the DHCP option which is the right thing to do in nearly all home networks. (Provided that your router doesn’t have messed up DHCP settings - which it normally doesn’t).

Alternatively, please show us the static settings that you are using

An error checking update message can be due to DNS issues. Try setting the DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 on the router and then Retry Now on the Nucleus.

Thanks to you both for your quick response to my problem.

Since switching back to DHCP already solved the problem I did not venture to experiment with the DNS setting.

After looking closer at the chronology of the ‘failing Nucleus+ updates’ I can confirm that it started after my switching to a static IP. - (I had done this because of network problems in connection with my attempts to get the port forwarding going (in connection with setting up roon ARC).)

Best,
Manfred

You could still check the DNS setting on the router and change it to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8

This would automatically benefit all devices on the network. These DNS servers are often faster and have better privacy than the default servers the ISP provides.
