I’d like to describe a real-world use case for this feature request.
Imagine you’ve booked a listening session at a hi-fi store.
Although the store provides a wide range of streaming services, you’re certain that many of the tracks you want to audition aren’t available on any streaming platform—they exist only on your Roon Server at home.
The problem is that while the ARC app allows me to access my music remotely, I don’t want to connect my phone to the store’s audio system via Bluetooth or a USB cable. Bluetooth may introduce latency or reduce sound quality, while a USB connection means I have to stay close to the equipment instead of comfortably sitting on the sofa and browsing my library.
Of course, bringing my entire Roon Server to the store is another option, but it’s far less convenient.
So here’s the idea: I bring two mobile devices, both running the ARC app and connected to the same local network. One device acts purely as a remote control, while the other serves as the playback device, outputting the music directly to the store’s audio system via a wired connection.
What do you think of this idea? Would it be possible to implement something like this?
