Hi Roon Team and Community,
I’d like to suggest a new feature for Roon’s Live Radio: the ability to bulk import internet radio stations from standard playlist formats like .pls and .m3u.
Why This Feature Is Needed:
I have a .pls playlist containing over 100 internet radio stations from DI.fm. As a premium member, I also have access to other affiliated services like RockRadio.com, ClassicalRadio.com, JazzRadio.com, and ZenRadio.com, resulting in a combined list of over 300 stations. Unfortunately, Roon currently requires manual entry of each station, which is a time-consuming and tedious process.
Proposed Functionality:
- Support for importing .pls and .m3u playlists in the Live Radio section.
- Automatic parsing of stream URLs from the playlist and adding them as individual stations in Roon.
- A simple “Import Playlist” option in the Settings or Live Radio menu.
Benefits:
- User Convenience: Dramatically reduce the time and effort required to add large numbers of internet radio stations.
- Enhanced Experience: Encourage users to explore and utilize Roon’s Live Radio feature more extensively.
- Compatibility: Leverage existing playlist standards used by popular services.
This feature would be particularly valuable for users with premium access to services like DI.fm, where multiple playlists can be generated for different genres or channels.
Thank you for considering this idea! I’m looking forward to hearing feedback from the community and the Roon team.
